Input shafts for the Dana 300 are produced by JB Conversions, Inc. with a wide variety of internal spline configurations and overall shaft lengths. The primary purpose of producing the various gear designs is to accommodate the Benchmark Adapter line exclusive to our company.
Internal spline specifications are as follows:
- Three versions of a 27 spline version are produced. Each of these 3 inputs are made with different overall lengths and internal spline depths.
- One 23 spline input is produced to a length of 0.75" longer than stock. This input shaft is intended for use with our billet rotation plate however it may be used in custom applications where a longer-than-stock shaft is needed.
- One 29 spline input is available to accommodate the Dodge applications of the diesel NV4500 when combined with our billet aluminum Dana 300 input retainer kit.
- Our custom 32 spline input is available to match with the popular GM 32 spline output shaft common to transmissions such as the TH400 and 4L80.
- We do not produce an input shaft with 31 or 10 splines common to Ford transmissions and the SM465 GM transmission.
Unlike the stock Dana input shaft, all of our input shafts are machined with an outside diameter which is precision ground to produce a seal surface which extends the full length of the internally splined end of the shaft. This is especially useful in custom applications using various adapters and bearing retainers with inconsistent oil seal locations.
